Yubu, a small counter specializing in Korean fried tofu pockets, opened a second location over the weekend. In New York City, a handful of chefs are bringing more representation to the region, with restaurants serving corn tamales steamed in banana leaves, empanadas, and carimañolas, a stuffed yuca dish. There are some 210,000 Panamanians living in the United States, yet the Central American cuisine remains relatively unknown, according to the New York Times. “If I were to name this concept Pinky’s Vegan, how many people do you think would have been there?” she said last month. The burger counter with seven locations nationally sells sandwiches named the One Night Stand and the Hollywood Hooker, an attempt to reclaim those words and make vegan eating “sexy,” according to founder Pinky Cole. “I would not feel comfortable bringing, where they would be bombarded with these kinds of messages about women and sex,” one Park Slope parent told the New York Post. Slutty Vegan, the famed Atlanta burger chain that recently opened in Fort Greene, apparently has Brooklyn parents “squirming” over its unconventional branding. Parents are ‘squirming’ over Slutty Vegan (Google lists an October 26 opening date for the hotel.) The new spots include: Sake No Hana, a modern Japanese restaurant a rooftop bar called the Highlight Room the Fix, a lobby cafe and bar a piano lounge called Silver Lining and Loosie’s, a nightclub with an “early 2000s” vibe. The concepts will all be located in the forthcoming Moxy hotel on the Lower East Side, set to open in late October, according to Page Six. They set up my party at the Gansevoort and reconfirmed the day of. I emailed them and quickly got a response from Abe & Cristina. Nothing in NYC is free, ESPECIALLY alcohol. Thanks to to my mastery of the google machine I typed in "NYC birthday" and Birthday Bottle Service popped right up! I clicked on their website and was immediately awestruck- FREE BOTTLES- what?!? This can't be true. We don't go to many clubs these days so I didn't know where we should go and I really didn't want to pay for 10 other people to get drunk. I expected him to say he wanted to go for a nice dinner but instead he busted out "I wanna get a table somewhere and pay for all my friends to drink." Well shit! (only kidding!) I made the mistake of asking my husband what he wanted to do for his birthday. I'm excited to try different venues with the help of their amazing party planning!! ![]() I will definitely contact Christina and Abe again for another event. 4 bottles came out right away and our waitress was great and helpful when we requested different mixers. In fact they moved a party, cleaned up the tables, so they could accommodate us all with 2 adjoining tables within minutes. Luckily we did not need to use it! We arrived in the VIP line and was seated right away. ![]() Christina and Abe confirmed our party the day of and even provided us with a Customer Service number - God forbid anything went wrong the night of the party. Both had the buy 1 + get 1 free bottle special. As the guest list grew, we asked Christina for 2 tables next to each other at the Gansevoort. I was able to choose my venue from an extensive list. I contacted them and Christina responded within minutes. I simply Googled "birthdays in NYC" and Birthday Bottle Service came right up. Birthday Bottle Service was a success! I wanted to plan a special birthday celebration for my boyfriend.
